Equalities Information & Objectives
Equalities Objectives at Dagenham Park Church of England School
As a truly inclusive secondary school and sixth form, Dagenham Park Church of England School is committed to promoting equality, diversity, and understanding among our pupils, staff, and wider community. Our equalities objectives are designed to ensure we meet our legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and foster an environment where everyone is respected and can thrive.
Our Equalities Objectives
To narrow the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
At Dagenham Park, we believe in the potential of every child, regardless of their background or circumstances. We are dedicated to providing targeted support and resources to ensure our disadvantaged pupils can achieve the same levels of academic success as their peers.
To promote understanding and respect for different protected characteristics, such as religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity, through the curriculum and wider school activities.
As part of our commitment to the Believe, Grow, Succeed standards, we aim to cultivate an environment where diversity is celebrated, and all members of our community feel valued. Through our curriculum and enrichment activities, we will educate our pupils about different protected characteristics and foster respect and understanding.
To ensure that all EAL pupils have the relevant support so that they can access all areas of the curriculum.
We recognise that some of our pupils may face additional challenges due to English not being their first language. We are dedicated to providing tailored support, including language development programmes and in-class assistance, to ensure our EAL pupils can fully engage with and succeed in all aspects of their education.
To expand the programme of study and curriculum offered in the sixth form to produce an inclusive offer which accommodates students in the ARP to progress from Level 1 onto Level 2 qualifications.
As an inclusive school, we are committed to offering a comprehensive and accessible sixth form curriculum that caters to the diverse needs of all our students, including those in our Additional Resource Provision (ARP). By expanding our programme of study, we will ensure that our ARP students have the opportunity to progress to higher-level qualifications and achieve their full potential.
To ensure that our pupils displaying sexualised behaviour (which could include but not specific to child-on child sexual violence and sexual harassment) are safeguarded and supported to the same extent as those who maybe victims of sexualised behaviour.
At Dagenham Park, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils are of the utmost importance. We will implement robust procedures and provide tailored support to address any incidents of sexualised behaviour, ensuring that both victims and those displaying such behaviour are safeguarded and given the necessary resources to address the underlying issues.
Implementation and Monitoring
To achieve these equalities objectives, we will review and update our curriculum, provide staff training, implement effective reporting procedures, and engage with our community. The progress of these objectives will be closely monitored by the governing body, and we will make adjustments to our approach as needed to ensure we continue to meet the needs of all our pupils.
At Dagenham Park Church of England School, we are committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment where every member of our community can thrive. By working together to achieve these equalities objectives, we will ensure that our school remains a beacon of excellence, where diversity is celebrated, and all pupils are empowered to succeed.
