Dagenham Park Church of England School

Inclusion

The Inclusion Department at Dagenham Park Church of England School aims to support pupils with a wide range of social, emotional, and mental health needs to ensure all pupils can access a mainstream education regardless of their adversities. We aim to create a happy, safe and secure environment, where members of our school community are healthy, enjoy learning, achieve their potential and respect and value each other and themselves.

We are committed to:

  • Improving the mental health of young people
  • Improving outcomes for young people despite the difficulties they may face
  • Improving the welfare of pupils within the school
  • Providing a multi-agency approach to support the individual needs of all pupils
  • Reducing suspensions and exclusions

We aim to:

  • Ensure that all pupils feel listened to, valued and respected
  • Ensure that pupils have a sense of belonging
  • Understand and respect pupils lived experiences and the impact this may have on their educational journey
  • Provide a safe space
  • Become advocates for young people
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and their families
  • Ensure all pupils achieve their potential
  • Develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which success is celebrated and pupils can actively participate in school life.

The staff aim to work within a trauma informed framework which is emulated throughout the school. The inclusive practice at Dagenham Park Church of England School extends beyond The Inclusion Department and is embedded in both policy and practice as a whole school approach. Teachers at Dagenham Park Church of England School have extensive knowledge of the context of the pupils’ lives, and work alongside the inclusion department to create and inclusive community in which young people thrive.
